Perrault, Claude

   architect, physician, physicist
   Born in Paris, the brother of charles perrault, Claude Perrault, a translator of the works of the ancient Roman architect vitruvius, has been credited with the plan for the louvre colonnade, the Paris Observatory, and the château of Sceaux for jean -baptiste colbert. A naturalist, Perrault was a supporter of italian physicist Giovanni Borelli's iatromechanism (Mécanique des animaux). He was named to the Academy of Sciences in 1666.
